Our client has an opportunity for an experienced Head of Data Science to join their organisation and be part of their expanding and diverse team. The client plays an integral part in the sectors that is serves, providing solutions and data that can help save lives, prevent hazards and streamline functionality. This role would be ideal for someone able to apply cutting edge data analytics techniques to solve real-world problems. This role provides the opportunity to work in diverse environments Aerospace, Defence, Security, Government & Infrastructure (Energy, Water, Transport). You will be responsible for leading, nurturing and growing a team and ensuring an outstanding quality of delivery across a diverse mix of client projects. The client offers flexibility in relation to location and has offices situated in London and the multiple offices in the South they are also happy to consider flexible and home working arrangements. As the Head of Data Science for this product team, you will be accountable for a small, but growing, team of data scientists, part of a wider global development team comprising developers, data scientists, data engineers and UX/UI specialists. You will sit on the senior leadership team for the project and represent your team to the wider business; building relationships and technical know-how as you go. You ll get involved across the entire engineering lifecycle, developing, delivering, and supporting the cutting-edge solution as it rolls out to their global portfolio A background in software development will be required as you work hand-in-hand with their Technical Product Manager so that data models can be integrated into the wider product and quality assurance and other service management aspects are considered throughout the development lifecycle. Whilst this is a leadership role, we expect that the successful candidate will problem solve on detail technical topics when required. This is an important role in rapidly evolving part of the client s business and would be ideal for someone that can Head the team to build and deliver a complex software product leveraging and applying advanced analytics and data models within an Agile project environment. Evaluate and apply analysis techniques, machine learning (including deep learning) algorithms and statistical models using a range of tools including Python, Spark and R. Work collaboratively with data engineers and the wider software development team to ensure data models are deployable and can be integrated into the final product. Set up best practice data science capabilities and processes including ML/Ops and Model Lifecycle Management. Help the data science team to achieve their potential through active technical leadership and coaching. Collaborate across their business to ensure the right resources and skills are provided to enable successful solution delivery. Engage with clients, product owners and other stakeholders to ensure their requirements are considered and prioritized correctly. This would ideally suit someone that has a track record managing the delivery of technology solutions, including hardware & software integration, to time, cost, and quality, with a keen eye for risk and opportunity management. Rounded, full life cycle experience from requirements and design through to testing, deployment, and through-life support, with experience of managing suppliers when needed. Strong grasp of numbers, statistics, mathematical concepts, and algorithms. Qualifications, in this area would be a benefit but not essential. Understanding of Machine Learning, e.g.: linear/logistic regression, random forest, SVM, neural networks, etc., with demonstrable experience in their application to real-word problems. Experience of implementing Model Cycle Management/ML-Ops for multiple experiments. Proficiency with machine and deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, Keras. Experience with techniques to retrieve actionable feature insight from deep neural networks. Experience with developing and provisioning sustainable solutions within cloud-based ecosystems (e.g. Microsoft Azure, AWS). Experience operating under an Agile delivery model, and a software development environment. A problem-solving mindset and the ability to make conceptual links between real word problems and data analytics solutions. Previous experience as a developer or architect for AI, AA or BI solutions would be a benefit but not essential. Knowledge of the following would also be advantageous: Cloud architecture; systems engineering methods and approaches; and management of Intellectual Property.
